La révolte contre l'argent, par le Théâtre Versus
Soirée théâtre hier, à La Traverse (50 rue de Berne, Genève). La révolte est une pièce de Villiers de l'Isle-Adam qui avait été créée au Vaudeville à Paris en 1870. Elle était tombée au bout de cinq jours. A cause du sujet ?
Un huis-clos entre deux personnages, mari et femme. Il est banquier, elle est devenue sa caissière. Ce soir-là, elle déclare qu'elle veut le quitter, révoltée par tout ce qu'il représente et par l'échec de sa propre vie. Ils échangent des répliques sans communiquer. On a des conflits bien marqués. Réalisme/romantisme. Rêve/réalité. Ordre paternalisme/libération de la femme. Une situation à la Ibsen, ou à la Strindberg. L'épouse part donc pour vivre, respirer, mais revient quelques heures plus tard, résignée : il est trop tard, tout est mort en elle.
Le Théâtre Versus a repris ce texte en l'allégeant, lui a donné une seconde partie : la même situation mais placée de nos jours. Une réécriture du texte de Villiers intéressante, qui insiste sur l'argent et les questions qu'il pose.
Suit un débat pour ceux qui aiment ça. Il dure parfois, paraît-il, jusqu'au petit matin. C'est du théâtre engagé. Du théâtre off. Peu de moyens, un décor minimal mais une volonté d'en découdre.
On ne regrette pas sa soirée. Jean-Claude Blanc à la mise en scène a pris le parti du comique et du décalage. On rit beaucoup. On réfléchit aussi. Les comédiens sont parfaits dans leur double version 1870 et 2007, la sémillante Cordélia Loup et le magistral René-Claude Emery. C'est jusqu'au 27 janvier à 20 heures 30 (réservation ici). Il y a en plus une grande discussion/controverse samedi à 17 h 00 (on y attend notamment un banquier).
